Houdini 'escapes' at IBC 2007
Basingstoke – 6 September 2007: CompleteTV, a company that delivers managed IPTV technology for personalised and interactive viewing experiences, announces that ‘Houdini’ will be performing live on stand 4.385 during IBC 2007.
CompleteTV’s latest Set Top Media Centre (STMC-LE), code-named ‘Project Houdini’, promises to free IPTV from a future consigned to the PC and help it achieve its true potential as a TV-quality ‘sofa experience’.The STMC-LE has been designed to deliver the next generation of IPTV services with fully upgradeable software and hardware options. This flexibility enables service providers to adapt their offerings to meet evolving consumer demands and deliver new services that help increase revenue opportunities and build loyalty.
The device has also been designed to run both Linux and Windows CE platforms, and supports all major video codecs (H.264, MPEG2 and WM9) - enabling operators to deliver both high and standard definition services over the public Internet (connections as low as 350kbps).
The CompleteTV STMC-LE includes embedded Microsoft DRM and AES decryption and is CA agnostic, giving service providers flexibility in their choice of IPTV CA system. Service management and upgrades are quick and easy with STMC-LE.
Using CompleteTV’s Fusion Server subscriber and asset management system, service providers can change every aspect of their service remotely without the need for fleets of engineers to configure systems or implementing hardware swap-outs.
CompleteTV’s Chief Marketing Officer, Philip Smith, explains, “CompleteTV’s technology gives service providers the ability to add new information, communication, enhanced video and entertainment services, without the need to invest in new hardware or software – a first for the industry. Nobody knows what the IPTV services of the future will be – so we designed a set top that gives content producers, broadcasters and ISPs the flexibility to offer what the consumer wants today, tomorrow and beyond. Now they don’t need to!
“Traditionally service providers have had to hope they ‘back a winner’ – spending millions of marketing dollars creating consumer demand or redesigning new technologies. The STME-LE removes this gamble, and enables the evolution of IPTV services to meet changing consumer trends. Used in conjunction with our Fusion Server subscriber and asset management system, service providers can make money from IPTV today, while making an investment for the future.
Journalists and analysts are invited to come and see Houdini perform for themselves at booth 4.385.
